Everest Base Camp Trek and Gokyo Lake Trek is a splendid add-on to the classic Everest Base Camp Trek. This is an excellent route that adds an adventure to the journey by witnessing the crystal blue lakes of Gokyo.

The Everest Base Camp Trek via Gokyo is renowned for the series of crystal blue lakes in the Gokyo valley and the climb to Cho La Pass. It takes us to the Everest Base Camp along with majestic views of Gokyo Valley. Kala Patthar and Gokyo Ri are the best viewpoint during the trek. The view of Khumbu Icefall looks amazing. Along with Mt. Everest, you will spot various mountain peaks during the trek like Mt. Cho Oyu, Makalu, Nuptse, Pumori, Amadablam, and more. The Everest Base Camp Trek via Gokyo Valley is a challenging yet great option to reach the Everest Base Camp.

The journey of Everest Base Camp Trek via Gokyo VallACy begins with a flight to Lukla and trek to Namche Bazaar. From here we will head to Macchermo via Dole. From Macchermo, we will trek to Gokyo and hike to Gokyo Ri. Then we will continue the trail to Thagnak and cross Chola Pass and trek to Lobuche. From Lobuche, the trail continues to Gorak Shep and a few hours of trek to Everest Base Camp. The trail descends via Kala Patthar. Flight from Lukla gives you an amazing Ariel view.

Itinerary

After you arrive at the Tribhuvan International Airport you will see our representative from Infinite Nepal waiting for you at the exit. He will drop you at the hotel where you can freshen up. You can utilize your leisure time in sightseeing in the nearby places of Kathmandu. In the evening we will be organizing a warm welcome dinner, where we will also be explaining to you a little about the trek. Overnight stay in a hotel in Kathmandu.
Early in the morning we will pick you up from the hotel and drive to the airport. From the domestic terminals, we will take our flight to Lukla. You will meet the other member of the trek at the airport. After 35 minutes of beautiful flight, we will reach Lukla airport. From here we will commence our trek and move to Phakding. We will head down towards the Dudh Koshi River. After crossing the suspension bridge, we will reach the beautiful Sherpa village of Phakding. You can see the Dudh Koshi River flowing right below the village. Overnight stay in a tea house in Phakding.
We will have a warm breakfast and continue our trail towards Namche Bazaar. Heading towards Namche you will get your first glimpse of Mt. Everest. Continuing the trail we will pass through beautiful pine and rhododendron forests. You will also see many prayer flags and Buddhist shrines along with great mountain views. We will be crossing various metal suspension bridges. Moving ahead you will also get to cross the longest suspension bridge of the Everest Region – Hillary Bridge. After a continuous 5 to 6 hours of walk, we will reach Namche Bazaar. Overnight stay in a hotel in Namche Bazaar.
Today we will be acclimatizing in Namche. This place is famous as a trading area; here you can find most of the facilities. It is the economic center of the Khumbu region. You can find bars, bakeries, cybercafés, and lodges here. After having breakfast we will start exploring the place. We will hike up to Shyangboche and Everest View hotel. From Everest view hotel you will be a mesmerizing view of Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Pumori, and many more. While descending to Namche Bazaar, we will visit the Sherpa Village. Here you can visit the oldest school of this area and the ancient Khumjung Monastery with the scalp of Yeti, the abominable snowman. Overnight stay in a hotel in Namche Bazaar.
After early morning breakfast, we will continue the journey and head towards Dole. We will climb up and follow the even path that takes us to village Kymjuma. From here you will see two ways, one takes you to Gokyo whereas another leads you to Tengboche. We will take the upward path towards Gokyo valley. The route goes upward; we will climb on the stone steps which are cut on the side of rocky cliffs. Moving ahead, you will get a closer view of Kantega, Ama Dablam, and Taboche. The trail passes through beautiful waterfalls, streams, and forests and finally, we will reach Dole. Overnight stay in a tea house in Dole.
Today we have a short trek to complete. Leaving Dole we will head towards Macchermo. We will ascend a ridge which is located up the village. Then we will follow the trail towards Macchermo. Moving forward we will walk past the summer camps of yak herders. The route goes above the Dudh Koshi River. After walking a few hours on the hillside, you will reach the settlement area of Macchermo. You can explore the village in the evening. Overnight stay in a tea house in Macchermo.
Leaving Macchermo we will continue the trail following the steep ascent to a ride. You will get a fantastic view of Mt. Cho Oyu and Thamseku. Crossing the ridge we will enter a valley. We will walk along the up and down trail and reach the moraine of Nzogumpa Glacier (the longest glacier in Nepal) Walking here you should be careful as the loose stones are slippery. We will cross the first Gokyo lakes, Longpongo, and a few km ahead of the second lake that is Taboche Lake Tsho. The lakes are mesmerizingly beautiful with shimmery water surrounded by glaciers and white peaks. Finally, after 4 hours of walk, we will reach Gokyo which is located on the banks of the third lake, Gokyo Tsho (Dudh Pokhari) Overnight stay in a tea house in Gokyo.
We will be leaving early as we have a long trek to complete. We will hike up to Gokyo Ri which is a small hill, situated just above Gokyo. From this hill you will get an amazing view of the Gokyo Lakes and the Nzogumpa Glacier. You will also be spotting the Tibetan peaks too. You can enjoy the panoramic view of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and many more which are above 600 meters. After spending a few times here we will continue the trail to Thagnak. We will follow the Nzogumpa Glacier and walk towards the eastern part of Gokyo Valley and reach Thagnak. Overnight stay in a tea house in Thagnak.
Today we will be continuing the most difficult part of the entire trek, so it is going to be a tough day. We will cross a high mountain pass. Leaving Thagnak we will climb upward towards Cho La. One should take a slow and griped steps as the path is steep and rocky. You will see the Cho La pass covered in snow with a beautiful view of Himalayan ranges. From here we will descend down the steep path along with a glacier. After a lunch break in Dzongla down the pasture, we will trail downward to Lobuche. Moving forward you will be fantasized by the view of mountain peaks including Tawoche and Cholatse. Finally, we will reach Lobuche which is the place for the night.
Today we will be heading to our main destination that is Everest Base Camp. After breakfast, we will continue straight path ahead and cross the Indian army mountaineers’ memorials. The air gets thinner as we go ahead. The route passes through rocky dunes, moraine, and streams, you should be careful with your steps here. After 7 hours of hard trek, we will reach the destination of the day that is the Everest Base Camp. Reaching the base camp you can many climbers getting ready to climb Everest and set their camp. You will get a great view of Everest from here along with Pumori, Nuptse, and Khumbuste. We will also set up a camp for the night in the Everest Base Camp or you can also return to Gorak Shep for the night.
Early in the morning, we can descend to Kala Patthar, if we are early enough we can also view the beautiful sunrise between the mountains. Moving forward reveals the view of peaks; Khumbutse, Lingtren, and more. From Kala Patthar, we can see a closer 360 view of Mt. Everest. After 7 hours of trek, we will reach Pheriche. Overnight stay in a tea house in Pheriche.
Continuing the trail we will descend to Namche Bazaar through the hillside covered by juniper and rhododendron trees. We will be following the same trail where we came from. Enjoying the scenic view of mountains and forests we will reach Namche Bazaar. You can enjoy your evening in a nearby pubs or restaurants. Overnight stay in a hotel in Namche.
Today is the final day of our trek. We will descend to Lukla following the previous trail. Crossing the suspension bridge along with Dudh Koshi River we will reach Lukla. You can relax your foot after such a long journey. Overnight stay in a guest house in Lukla.
After a warm breakfast, we will head toward the Lukla airport. We will take a flight back to Kathmandu. An Ariel view of the landscapes, valley, mountain ranges, and forests will leave you mesmerized. After landing in Kathmandu, we will help you to transfer back to the hotel. In the evening you can shop around the Thamel area or take a rest whichever you are comfortable with. Overnight stay in a hotel in Kathmandu.

Yes! But make sure you are fit and can walk each day for 5/6 hours. To do this hike, you don’t need to have special training or preparation but have to be physically fit. If you are a beginner, we suggest you do a Private trip than joining the group. Joining with a group is always in rush and you will be under Group’s rules and times. So, you may feel uncomfortable.
